It's spring, and the College of Nursing is stepping forward boldly! U.S. News & World Report continues to rank our degrees among the nation's best, and our NIH ranking for research funding continues to rise. We're addressing local health issues with a new on-campus heart-health clinic and a wonderful project, POP Care, that provides well care for homebound elderly adults and their pets. We just opened a second, permanent innovation studio, and hired two new top-notch faculty members, Karen Rose, PhD, RN, FGSA, FAAN, and Kayla Herbell, PhD, RN. You can read about these and other exciting news below. Also, please look in your mailbox for the spring issue of our alumni magazine, Transformations in Nursing and Health, coming out at the end of April, for more news from the college.
Today, on a wellness walk across campus, I thought about how appropriate it is that "graduation" and "degree" both come from a word meaning "step." This May, some of our outstanding students will be stepping into the professional world for the first time; others will be receiving advanced degrees that signal another step up the ladder of their professional life and career. We are incredibly proud of all of them! As alumni, they will step forward to transform health and improve lives throughout the world in ways we have not yet envisioned. We mentor all of our students to LIVE WELL and dream, discover and deliver, which become important facets of how they function.
I hope to see you at one of our many upcoming alumni events (see below) or on campus if you're in the neighborhood this spring. Be well!
Fondly,
